I was surprised to see a two star review for Dr. Kloda, so I am writing a five star review in response. Dr. Kloda was recommended to me by another patient of his, and he has been treating me for the past two years. I have found him to be extremely competent, genuinely caring, and available for questions and concerns.
His office charges are in line with many other physicians in Manhattan, and you definitely get your money’s worth. He does not just write prescriptions. In addition to meds, He talks to you and does addiction counseling, as well as give you general advice and support.
It is a concierge practice. The longest that I have ever waited in his waiting room is 10 minutes, although he usually sees me right on time. You have access to him by phone seven days a week. Prescriptions are delivered to his office from a privately owned pharmacy if you want, or he calls them in and you walk over there, or he will call your own pharmacy, all during the appointment. Not having to waste time dropping off a prescription at a pharmacy, then having to come back, sometimes a day later, is really a hassle, and it is a relief to be able to avoid that. He is also flexible with scheduling, which makes things easier for me, since I work long hours and travel sometimes for work. His Saturday hours are yet another extra convenience.
It sounds like the two star reviewer had a problem with his office charges, which then apparently translates, for him, into “it seems like he’s really in it for the money, and is not really trying to help people who need it”. Yes it is a medical practice, but it is also a small business, and a business does need to make money. I have never seen or felt him to be uncaring, and I am definitely someone who needed a lot of help when I first came to see him! I think that it was a really crappy thing for that reviewer to give him a bad review. He should have just seen the type of doctor that apparently he wants: someone who is cheaper, will “just write a prescription”, and not spend much time with him.
